English National Ballet’s production of Akram Khan’s Giselle announced for 2018

Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and Dublin Dance Festival are delighted to announce what will be the dance event of 2018: following its sensational 2016 world premiere and UK tours, Akram Khan’s stunning new version of Giselle will come to  Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from Wed 2 – Sun 6 May, opening the 2018 Dublin Dance Festival which will run from 2 – 20 May. Tickets from €20 go on sale this Friday 7 July through Ticketmaster.

One of the greatest romantic ballets of all time, Giselle is the first full-length ballet to be choreographed by celebrated dance artist Akram Khan and will feature 40 dancers from English National Ballet. The classic story of love, betrayal and redemption has been re-imagined, with sets and costumes by Academy-Award winning designer Tim Yip (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and a new adaptation of Adolphe Adam’s original score by composer Vincenzo Lamagna, performed by a live orchestra.

Khan is one of the most original and exciting dance artists today. He has received multiple awards throughout his career and choreographed a section of the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony to unanimous acclaim. His innovative style draws from contemporary dance and the ancient Indian dance form, Kathak.
